Product Certifications
The first step in keeping baby safe is careful selection of juvenile products. To help retailers make purchasing decisions while keeping safety in mind, JPMA has developed a unique Certification Program that has been guiding parents for more than 25 years.
Look for the JPMA Certification Seal on a product or its package for added assurance the manufacturer designed and built it with safety in mind. The JPMA Certification Seal ensures the product was built to the very highest safety standards.
The Certification Program currently includes bassinets and cradles, bath seats, carriages and strollers, full-size cribs, gates and enclosures, hand-held infant carriers, high chairs, infant bouncers, infant swings, non-full size cribs and play yards, portable hook-on chairs, stationary activity centers, portable bed Rails, toddler beds, soft infant carriers, walkers and will add changing tables in 2005. JPMA is currently working on adding bedding products, frame infant carriers, commercial cribs and booster seats to the program.
The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), a highly regarded non-profit organization, publishes the voluntary standards used in the JPMA Certification Program. Industry members work together with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, consumer groups and other interested parties to develop the standards.
When buying any juvenile products , insist only on those bearing the Certified Seal! Additional information on the JPMA Certification Program can be found on the JPMA website. For additional information on the Certification Program
