Determine location of gate. If it is to be attached to a sheet rock and wood stud wall, locate wood stud in each wall.
Open gate to full width of installation, from wood facing to wood facing or from wall stud to wall stud. Do not excee the indicated gate opening.
With the gate extended and resting on the floor gripper, make sure the gate is level, slip the wall bracket over the end of the end post and mark position of screw holes for the bottom bracket.
Drill lead holes, use a # 45 or 5/64" drill, if through sheet rock, make sure to drill squarely into wood stud. Set gate aside and install bottom bracket on wall or door facing, using (2) #6 x 3/4" screws provided.
Place bottom of end post into bracket that was installed in step #4. Slip bracket over the top of the end post, mark position of screw holes and install top bracket by drilling lead holes using a #45 or 5/64" drill bit. Make sure to drill squarely into the wood stud. Gate must be placed in bottom bracket before marking and installing top bracket. Install top bracket using (2) #6 x 3/4" screws provided.
Open gate to full width of installation opening. Mark position on mounting surface from guide notch on safety latch. Fig. 1.
Drill lead hole at marked position. Use a #27 or 9/64" drill bit, if through sheet rock, make sure drill bit hits solid part of the wood stud. Install eye screw flush against surface. Fig. 2.
Fasten safety latch through eye screw, while pushing down on safety latch. Fig. 3.
Mark position of eye screw for bottom coupler. Fig. 4.
Drill lead hole at marked position. Use #27 or 9/64" drill bit, if through sheet rock, make sure to drill squarely into wood stud. Install eye screw not quite flush.
Adjust the bottom eye screw in or out to ensure ease of locking the top safety latch.
